HOW TO PREPARE
  • Come to class on an empty stomach.  Refrain from eating 3 hours prior to class time
  • Be well hydrated. Always drink plenty of water, especially before your first class
  • All classes are beginner classes, so no prior experience is necessary. Everyone starts as an absolute beginner
  • Arrive 15 minutes early for registration, changing and to settle in
  • Please be prompt as latecomers will not be allowed to enter the class once the teacher has entered the room.

WHAT TO EXPECT
  • The heat is usually overwhelming for everyone during their first Bikram's Hot Yoga Class
  • If you feel nauseas or dizzy, then you are like everyone else. Again, this very normal. Most times it is because of dehydration as well as acidity and toxins in the body
  • If you get overwhelmed, just lie down on your mat, feet facing the back wall (away from the mirrors) and concentrate on your breath. When you are ok, stand up and join the class
  • The next few classes are always much easier. Please do not be discouraged after your first visit. Do come back! You deserve to be healthy
  • We cheat ourselves by saying things like "I can't do it, I couldn't do it"
  • Your main goal for the first Bikram Yoga class is to stay in the room for whole 90 minutes.

WHAT TO BRING
  • A yoga mat
  • A large towel
  • Refillable water bottle -filtered water is available for free and ionized, alkaline water is available for a small fee
  • Mat/towel rentals are available for $2 per item
  • We do sell the best hot yoga mats and towels made specifically for hot yoga
  • Come with an open mind and positive attitude

YOGA ETIQUETTE AND TIPS
  • There is no talking during the class, unless the instructor speaks to you, or asks you a question
  • If you enter the room before class, please always lie with feet facing away from the front mirror in the yoga room
  • You may talk before the yoga class starts when the lights are on, but there is ABSOLUTE SILENCE during and after class please
  • Try your best not to drink water when others are in a posture (please wait for the water breaks)
  • Refrain from wiping. The sweat will keep coming back right away. Learn to accept it. Sweat will actually help you keep cool and be less irritating when a film builds on your skin. It's just something that we are not used to at first
  • Stay in the room for the entire class. Leaving and re-entering causes the body temperature to fluctuate.  Stay in the class to keep the body temperature steady
  • Yoga is meant to be practiced daily. The more often you come, the better you will feel
  • Practice normal breathing. Keep your mouth closed and breathe normally and quietly in and out of your nose
  • Practice stillness in between postures
  • Stay aware in class. Move together. Listen and follow the teacher's dialogue to get maximum benefit from the posture and keep group energy strong
  • Think positively!
  • Respect the teacher, the yoga, other students and the tradition
  • After class drink plenty of water
  • It is highly recommended that you replensish your electrolytes. We sell Coconut water and Emergen-C at the studio. They are perfect for restoring electrolytes lost through sweat and rehydrating the body. It is nature's best sports drink.
